Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the things business owners ask me most. Can't find yours? Just ask.

Pricing & payments

How much does a website cost?

My one-page Starter sites begin at £395, full multi-page business sites at £895, and custom builds (e-commerce, bookings) at £1,995. You always get a fixed quote before any work starts, so there are no surprises. See the Pricing page for full details.

How do payments work?

A 50% deposit secures your slot and the remaining 50% is due when the site goes live. For larger custom projects we agree staged payments tied to milestones. I accept bank transfer and card payments.

Are there any ongoing costs?

The only essentials are your domain name (around £10–15/year) and hosting — which for most of my builds is free or under £5/month thanks to modern edge hosting. My optional Care Plan (£39/month) covers updates, backups, and small changes if you’d rather not think about any of it.

Process

How long does a website take?

A Starter one-pager is usually live within 1–2 weeks, a full business site within 2–4 weeks, and custom builds depend on scope — we agree a timeline up front. The most common delay is waiting for content, so I help you plan that early.

What does the process look like?

Four steps: a free discovery call to understand your business and goals; a design you review and refine; the build, with progress you can click through; and launch with training so you can update things yourself. You’re never left wondering what’s happening.

Do you work remotely or only around Sheffield?

Both. I’m based in Sheffield and happy to meet South Yorkshire clients in person, but I work with businesses across the UK remotely — calls, screen-shares, and clear written updates make distance irrelevant.

After launch

Will I be able to update the website myself?

Yes. Business and Custom builds include a content management setup and a personal training video showing exactly how to make changes. And if you’d rather hand it off, the Care Plan includes monthly content updates.

Who owns the website?

You do — completely. The domain is registered in your name, the code is yours, and you can take it to any developer or host at any time. No lock-in, ever.

What happens if something breaks after launch?

Every project includes 30 days of free fixes after launch. Beyond that, Care Plan members get ongoing updates and support with a 24-hour response time, and everyone else can book one-off fixes at an hourly rate.

SEO & technology

Will my website show up on Google?

Every site I build ships with solid on-page SEO: proper page structure, fast loading, mobile-friendliness, and structured data. For competitive markets I also offer a dedicated SEO & Performance service that audits and improves an existing site.

What technology do you build with?

Modern, fast, open technology — typically SvelteKit or React with TypeScript, deployed to edge hosting like Cloudflare. It means your site loads quickly everywhere, costs little to run, and any competent developer can maintain it. No page builders held together with plugins.

Can you fix or improve my existing website instead of rebuilding?

Often, yes. My SEO & Performance service (from £295) starts with an audit and a plain-English report, so you’ll know whether your site is worth improving or genuinely needs a rebuild — before spending money on either.

Sheffield

Do you meet clients in person in Sheffield?

Happily. A coffee in the city centre or a visit to your premises works anywhere in Sheffield or South Yorkshire — sometimes seeing the business in person is the fastest way to understand it. Remote calls work just as well if you prefer.

How much does a website cost in Sheffield?

The same as anywhere I work — honest, fixed pricing with no “local agency premium”: one-page sites from £395, full business websites from £895, and custom builds from £1,995. You get a fixed quote before any work starts.

Do you only work with Sheffield businesses?

No — Sheffield is home, but I work with small businesses across the UK remotely. Local clients get the option of in-person meetings; everyone gets the same process, pricing, and 24-hour response time.
